The recent installation of the Founders display in the newly constructed Pestalozzi Centre (see this link) in Sedlescombe has been completed with the addition of a plaque to celebrate our funding of the display through our Project’s Heritage Lottery Fund “Sharing Heritage” grant.
The display consists of five images of people who were central to the creation and beginning of this unique UK charity: Johannes Heinrich Pestalozzi, the original inspiration for the care and education of children; Dr Walter Robert Corti, founder of the first Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Trogen, Switzerland; Dr Henry Alexander & Mrs Mary Buchanan, Co-founders of the British Pestalozzi Children’s Village and Mr Eric Bourne, first Warden of the British Pestalozzi Children’s Village. This display will foster awareness and interest in the story behind the charity that people encounter today.

Early Pestalozzi Children Project co-organiser, William Eiduks said “The Pestalozzi International Village Trust have been particularly supportive of our project and are keen to celebrate their history. We are delighted to assist them with this contribution”
Our appreciation also goes to the Heritage Lottery Fund for making this support possible.
