The Four Pennies
This 1960s chart-topping pop group donated their services for a private and exclusive performance in front of the Village’s children in about 1964. They performed in the common room of North House (located within International House).
While the music was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us, there is still a recollection that some of the girls suffered the equivalent of “Beatlemania”! We really did consider ourselves very fortunate.
Marion Charles
A tireless supporter during our early years. Marion (and her young daughter, Wendy) took children out on excursions and entertained them at her own house. Marion also continued to take an active interest in the children after they departed from the Village and has continued to remain in touch to this day.
