Coming to live at the Pestalozzi Children’s Village, on a large estate in countryside East Sussex, was a dramatic change from their previous lives for these children.  A safe and caring environment; a comfortable bed; a nourishing diet; a good education and a place to play – these were the most basic resources that “the Village” aimed to provide.  Many of the things which most children in the Western world took for granted were almost beyond luxury for some of our group.
