History was made yesterday at the Pestalozzi International Village Trust in Sedlescombe, East Sussex. For the first time since we departed the Village, fifty years ago, the Early Pestalozzi Children Project made a presentation to the current Pestalozzi Trustees, recounting some of our community’s earliest history. We were able to make clear our positive experiences but also highlight the effect our departure and estrangement had on us. We also emphasised the importance of taking the lives of the later children into account.
Our presentation clearly had an emotional impact on the Trustees and they expressed their appreciation for the candid nature of our explanation. Afterwards, it was described as “very powerful”, “very moving” and “extremely important” to the Trustees.
We believe our efforts will encourage PIVT to embrace the lives of all the children who lived there across the past almost 60 years.
